Are you juggling your time between the things you need to be doing
and the things you would like to be doing? Things you need to be
doing such as, house work, dishes, yard work.

What would you like more of in your life right now? Be very specific
with yourself. More time for yourself? More time with your family?
Some of the signs and symptoms that may appear if you are not
living a Balanced Life Style could be, stress (feeling overwhelmed or
pressured and out of control), forgetfulness (preoccupation and distraction),

feelings of guilt, sleep problems, or, health problems, such as headaches, stomach aches, backaches.
Here is a little exercise you could do to find out how you spend your time.
Write down on a piece of paper the five areas of your life:
Self: e.g. (your inner self, your beliefs, your personal development, exercise)
Family: e.g. (friends, relationships)
Work: e.g. (career, volunteer, school)
Community: e.g. (volunteer work, relationships, politics)
Leisure: e.g. (recreation, fun)
Figure out how much time you spend on each of these areas.
Now choose three important things to do tomorrow in the areas of Family, Self, and Work. These have now become your
priorities. Now complete a
To Do List of things you feel have to be done.
Some of these things on your To Do List you will get done and some may be put off, especially if we are interrupted by life,
and choose to take time to
"Smell the Roses."An example of being interrupted could be putting your work aside and choosing to sooth
your child's upset, therefore feeling rewarded and strengthening your bond.
The things on your To Do List will be there tomorrow and the next day. Developing your
sense of self and self worth through your work and family will provide support and
self-fulfillment.
Taking the time to set priorities around Family, Self and Work, is the first step to putting your life
in balance. Putting your self at the bottom of the list results in frustration. You deserve as much
time distributed to you as to any other area of your life.
Smelling the Roses or
Serendipity (Sir Horace Walpole 1754), is the faculty of making fortunate
discoveries by accident. This can be developed by anyone and will allow you to encounter a wonderful
experience while in pursuit of something else. Making things a priority and being flexible in our daily lives to take advantage of moments of Serendipity, you begin to attain a sense of Balance.
