Be Wary of Those Affiliate Programs

The horror stories concerning affiliate programs and networks fill many volumes. All of us hear about one or another of them on almost a daily basis - to the point that we're becoming very hesitant about joining one.
These stories are rampant and need to be taken seriously. Many of the programs involved center around downright illegal, or pyramid schemes falling just short of, or narrowly skirting the legal process. Basically, this kind of element does not have anything resembling a worthy product and is certainly not something we want to be identified with.
Notable among these, although far from alone, is Empower Network. I costs you to get in, and then, when you're in - you're out. This program lets a few of the members who got in early, so that they can give glowing references, while everyone else sustains huge losses in time and money. I would caution everyone to stay away from Empower Network.
When it comes down to the requirement that you make a purchase before being allowed to participate in any affiliate program, I've looked at more than 400 of them and only found one that's worth the investment.
The single exception I've found to this is what I like to call The Swiss Army Knife of Marketing Tools. This is a program definitely worth investigating. Here you're buying a set of marketing tools that have n parallel but you are also automatically enrolled as an affiliate.
Since you need these tools anyway and please trust me on this, you do - you simply cannot lose. This set f tools isn't cheap. But it's entirely affordable and you'll make a lot more back from affiliate referrals anyway; it's an entirely legitimate program hosted by a pair of long term, successful and respected marketers. This program is well worth investing in if you expect tobe around in this business for the foreseeable future.

Certainly you don't want to get identified with the shady scammers that are proliferating like roaches in a garbage heap. This program can easily attest to its legitimacy by the growing number of those who have already joined and who are succeeding immensely. That's certainly proof enough that there are some reliable and legitimate affiliate programs out there.
