Recently at a three day feel good event in a huge open air setting as is often the case here, the sun is always shining with some rain now and then , I picked up this millinery masterpiece . Food is always a big feature at these happy days and is many and varied . Kite flying is a national pastime and there were some drifting in the wind . One memorable one was an octopus at least 30 meters long with his accompanying seahorse ..

To give some idea of the size of the event space the next picture will show that

this was run by the army as a bonus day for the people a very nice gesture

and was a smorgasbord of fun activities ....

later I noticed a interesting shot as I have a sense of the ridiculous and humor . We are a nation and Thailand is intensely so , of mobile phone users ..

NOW this is a recent phenomena world wide , the smart phone explosion , but here it is even more so ....

this is a day for national pride and having fun as said a great pastime here partly due to the Buddhist culture

and partly due to the climate which is not demanding its always hot and sometimes rains

Many groups were performing and on display for example the scouts had a large presence ..

I must admit I unashamedly join in the fun and the sunshade , given by my girlfriend , did add to my enjoyment

in the end at another event [another blogpost ] I gave it to my mother/inlaw

and she wore it during her company speech crushing it to loud applause ..
