Determination And The Impossible

I was watching a video today, on That Cash Train, that had to do with determination. There were examples of people, who we would think it was impossible for them to succeed, but they had the determination to do the impossible. It made me think about, even though I was feeling sick, I too need to be determined to succeed in business. After all, I only have a cold, they had so much more to overcome.

What is determination?

Determination is one the greatest assets we can possess.  Determination can bring out the best in us.  Determination is the tool we use to defeat discouragement.  Determination is the tool we use to overcome temporary failure to prevent failure from becoming permanent.  Determination is the tool we use to produce patience.  Determination is the tool we use to feed our faith and starve our doubts to death.

Determination builds character.   It helps us become a more reliable person.   It helps us meet our commitments.    It helps us prioritize and manage our time to maximize positive results.

Determination is the tool we use to give us the will to win. Determination is the tool we use to help us win in spite of our limitations.  Determination is the tool we use to dig ourselves out of a hole.  Determination is the tool we use to improve our relationships.   Determination is the tool we use to reach our goals.  Determination is the tool we use to succeed.

Here are a few examples of determination in action.

Benjamin Franklin, is an example of a man who became successful because he mastered the art of determination.  He tried over 5,000 times and failed each time before he was able to make the first light bulb.  He could have given up after 3,000 or 4,000 tries, however, winners never quit, and quitters never win.

Michael Waters, Pensacola, Florida, used determination when his back was against the wall.  Michael was surfing when he was bitten by a shark, in the waters off the coast of the Florida Panhandle, near Pensacola.  He started hitting the shark with his surfboard.  He had the determination to fight for his life under attack and survived.

Tom Dempsey, was born without half of his right foot and only a stub right arm.  However, Tom used determination to overcome his limitations.  Tom had a burning desire to play football.  His parents had an artificial foot made for him.  It was made of wood and shaped to fit into a special football shoe.  Hour after hour, day after day, Tom would practice kicking field goals. His determination, drive, and discipline led to long hours of hard work.  He became very good at kicking field goals at short distances.  Then he began to move back further and further, scoring field goals with the same accuracy.  His determination landed him a job in the NFL playing football for the New Orleans Saints.   There came an opportunity when the New Orleans Saints needed Tom to make a 63-yard field goal against the Detroit Lions to win the game.  If Tom would make the field goal, it would become in new record in the NFL for the longest field goal ever made.  With time running out in the forth quarter, Tom kicked the ball while 66,000 fans were hollering and cheering.  The ball went up and went through the goal-post to give New Orleans a 19-17 win over Detroit, and Tom Dempsey a new record.  The moral of the story is, never let someone else place limitations on your potential.  With determination, you can become whatever you want to be��

So when it comes to starting a business, never give up. Have the determination you need to succeed. If you never give up, you will see results, but don�t expect it to happen overnight. It takes a lot of work, and determination to become successful.
