It is pretty well known in marketing circles that it takes between four and seven contacts before someone will buy a product. So to be effective in sales you must follow up with prospects. Once you have a large number of customers, follow-up can not only be time consuming but sometimes even impossible.
Autoresponders can actually do this follow up for you. You simply have to put together a series of follow-up letters and set a schedule for when they are to be sent to your customers. The autoresponder will automatically send those letters according to your schedule.
The most common use of autoresponders in Internet marketing is in association with lead capture pages. For example, someone subscribes to your newsletter by submitting their name and e-mail address on your capture page. From the submission form the autoresponder picks up their information and automatically begins to send them sales pages which you have prewritten and scheduled. This then becomes your follow-up campaign with those prospects.
There are many companies on the Internet selling autoresponder services. Each has its own advantages and disadvantages, and your selection will depend on factors such as how big a list you need to handle, your budget, and other features offered by that particular system. Some are free and others you must pay for. In my marketing business, Brian Cook Marketing, I currently use two different companies that provide autoresponder services and much more, for just pennies a day. Both of these companies offer free trials.
