My only mission critical web hosting requirement, is for my off line business.  I pay a relatively small amount for my web hosting, because all I need is a very reliable host to keep my site live, and e-mail service up and running all the time.  I tried various hosting services ranging from very cheap to very expensive but experienced many disappointments with the reliability of service.  (One, for example, managed to accidentally blacklist my IP address so that I could not even contact him.  I had to write some very ugly reviews about his service, to prompt him to contact me).  Finally, I decided to go for a very local hosting provider so that I can easily contact the provider, or even go there in person, if necessary.  This seems to work fine....
