Avant is the web browswer I normally use because it has and Autofill feature that is vastly superior to anything else.

The latest version of Avant ranged from poor to dead when it had to load my Gmail accounts. This forced me to look at other options. There was nothing to replace the Avant Autofill feature, so I decided to stay with Avant and just use something else for Gmail.

I used Greenbrowser for a while, but it also picked up problems with the Gmail accounts. I then though about just finding the fastest browsers and try them until I could find one that worked well with the Gmail accounts.

I gave a number of browser the same job to do and timed them, with the results in minutes and seconds below.

The winner was IronPortable (All of the browsers above were portable, with the exception of Internet Explorer). IronPortable also seemed to work fine with my Gmail accounts.

The browsers were generally unimpressive from an end user point of view, and I think there is scope for someone clever to make a good general purpose browser. Make it easy to customise and fast.
