Everyone needs to create a good opt-in list if they want to survive as an Internet marketer. After I read many articles, sought expert advice, read many success stories of people creating fortunes working from home, I finally decided that I needed to create such a list. Just having that great opt-in list does not guarantee that you will be able to make a profit, however.
In fact, you may be losing money. Your incurred expenses may exceed any income earned. Even if you have a big list and only a small percentage actually buys from you, you are still losing money. You will realize that after a few months when you see your statistics and sales figures.
So, what is it that went wrong? Why have other marketers succeeded where you have failed? The most common mistake made is that you jumped right into a niche that you thought was popular and would earn you money. This is not the case. Just because you wrote people from the list does not mean that they are going to buy instantly.
For those of you that have started creating an opt-in list and have failed , you can recoup your failed venture. For those of you are just starting to create that all important list, here are three quick ways to build a profitable opt-in list.
Trust
Build trust with your prospective buyers. Just launching your opt-in list would not make you an expert and a trustworthy seller. Write many articles in you niche area before you even begin to build your list. You want to be known as an authority in your field. Write about the topic you know and have used for your site. Join forums first to gain knowledge about your customers. Find out their wants and needs and target those wants and needs.
In the forums provide expert advice and recommendations. When you feel that the peolple trust you and your recommendations it is time to start building your opt-in list of highly targeted prospects. You can, also, build a base with other forum users. You can ask them to join your list. Friends are always good customers. Put up a link to your site so that they may see just what your business is all about.
The truth is that the money will only flow in when the consumers and subscribers believe and trust in you. They want a product or service that could be a good exchange for their money. People will not buy if recommended by you if they do not know you.
Research
Search and find a product that people want and need. If you provide a service and/or product that you have researched and learned about, you can carry it on forward. Invest your time, effort and money to sell to the buyers of your list.
While it is best to sell something that you have interest in, there are not many people who have the same interest as you. If you decide to sell something that is not entirely popular or profitable. Do your research and you will see the profits start to come in. Also, try to provide your subscribers promotional material that they can actually use and spread around.
Build Friendships
Finally, make friends with other opt-in list users. This can be very beneficial, especailly if it is someone that has already created a successful opt-in list. These are the people that have the experience. While there are many articles available for you to read on the subject, there is nothing like getting a first hand account from someone you trust.
Experienced opt-in list users will be able to tell you what to do and what not to do because they have gone through it. While different situations occur for different people, the general concept can still be very helpful. There are things that should be avoided when creating your list and these people wil be able to tell you which ones.
Building a profitable opt-in list does not happen overnight. There are many preparations and efforts ahead. Opt-in lists are built from scratch, as your list grows, you should maintain the quality of it. Keep it organized and manageable. Get or hire help if need be. Just make sure that your subscribers are satisfied and they will be more than willing to buy from you.
