Instagram is one of the fastest growing social networking sites till date. Users can take pictures, apply digital filters to such images, take a maximum of 15-seconds video and share them with their followers on the platform.
Instagram is distributed through the Apple App Store, Google Play, and Windows Phone Store.
Users are divided equally with 50 per cent iPhone owners and 50 per cent Android owners. While the networking site displays a neutral gender bias format, 68 per cent of the users are female, while 32 per cent are male.
Instagram has been proven to attract the younger generation with 90 per cent of the users under the age of 35.
As at December 2014, co-founder Kevin Systrom announced that the site had 300 million users accessing it every month with the total number of pictures uploaded on it in excess of one billion.
It has proven to be a social networking site for online marketers and many have started taken advantage of it's platform to market their products or services.
