When you have drawn the buyers in using your title, the next thing to complete is to tell them about your item with the outline. But just what should you write inside your description?

At its heart, your item description is usually an ad. Without making it also obvious, you should be publishing sales copy. You're trying to acquire buyers excited about your merchandise, and that's usually hard : but on eBay, if you might have the right thing to sell and provides enough details, the buyers practically excite themselves.

Technical Details.

Include every technical detail you already know, including the item's manufacturer, the condition, how big it is, where and when it had been made, its history, and anything special about it. Don't become too boring, though: the finest descriptions are written in pleasant, conversational language, and show a real knowledge of the item. Anything you do, make sure you tell the truth!

Remember that most of people who'll be buying your item will probably be just as knowledgeable about it when you are, if not more - this really is their hobby, and they're professionals. Don't feel like you ought to explain the basics of the product: just go into as much technical detail as you're able. As a rule, don't write anything in the description if you do not know what it means, since the chances are someone will, and if you've got it slightly wrong then you'll look like you don't know what you're speaking about.

Interesting Details.

You might find that you enjoy writing a few reasons for having how you got the object, why you're selling it, and who you would imagine might like it. This is not strictly necessary, but it gives your auctions some character plus a personal touch, and can make people prone to trust you. People might wonder what you're doing selling 500 CDs all at once, and if you tell them the main reason, then they'll feel reassured that nothing dodgy is going on. If you're selling them because you're having a baby and you need the living space, just say so.

Write just as much as You Can.

Leave nothing from your description, even if that seems to you like it makes it cumbersome long. There is no way you may be too thorough: someone, somewhere will appreciate you took the time to write the excess information.

Don't assume that anyone who aspires extra information will email you to ask a question: many buyers are shy and won't practice it. Think of questions that buyers probably have and add the answers on your description, as people generally tend for you to ask the same questions consistently.

Each time a buyer does email you having a question, you should both answer the question and update your description so that it will include the answer the very next time. If people ask questions which might be answered in the description, try putting these regions of the auction on a range alone, or in bold, to generate them easier to notice.

In the next email, we'll focus on increasing the amount of buyers who respond to ones auctions.
