I have found this to be a truth I am overcoming in my own life. They say the secret to success is to give 110% to what you are doing.
After being burned a few (hundreds it seems) times, I am sometimes gun-shy when starting a new opportunity. It is like when you are served a new food and are not too sure about it. you kinda play with it a bit and when you get your nerve up a bit, you start to eat it.
Sometimes after the first bite you are done. Other times you like it and devour it and ask for seconds.
I have found you have to internalize your opportunities. Eat them if you will. Sometimes they will be good going down and give you indigestion later.
There are no guarantees in life and some opportunities may not look right at first blush. I have found this to be true with many which ended up being a great addition to my arsenal.
You have to look a bit past the ad sometimes to see what is really offered and make a decision from this information. sometimes the creator is not a good ad writer. Sometimes you can see a totally different use for the product than listed in the ad.
I find even when I have a great product, I am sometimes reluctant to give it too much attention. I usually regret it later though when it starts to take off with minimal effort and I wished I had done more in the beginning.
Sometimes to take full advantage of an opportunity requires me to get out of my comfort zone a bit. Maybe a bit of learning on my part is involved also.
You then have to evaluate if you have "what it takes" to properly take advantage of the opportunity.
What things do you run into when you start on a new opportunity?
