Freedom
If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.
There are different ways that a person may be in bondage. A person may be bound by hatred, addictions, poor self esteem, false religions, depression, fear, sexual immorality, etc. These are just a few areas, in which a person may be bound by. No matter what has you bound, Jesus came to offer you freedom. I will just cover a few area's, where Jesus came to set you free in.
Jesus came to offer you freedom in your thoughts. No matter what has you bound, it all begins in your thoughts. Before someone steals something, he or she first thinks about stealing it. Before someone hurts someone, they think about doing it. No matter what has you bound, it all begins in your mind. Jesus came to change the way we think. When we have a change in the way we think, our actions will follow.
Jesus came to give us freedom in our actions. After a person thinks about doing something, he or she begins to act on it. After a while that act becomes a habit. To give you an example someone who smokes first thought about having a cigarette, after smoking so many of them it becomes a habit. A drug addict and alcoholic first thinks about doing it. After doing it so many times they become addicted to it. No matter what has you bound, after doing it so many times, your action becomes a habit. Jesus came to set you free from all of your sinful habits.
Some people need freedom from the wrong impression of God. Some people look at God as someone who is very impersonal. They thing that God does not care about them. Some even think that God has not revealed the way to heaven. They think it is up to God, if someone goes to hell or heaven. That is not true. Jesus came to offer you freedom from this mindset. God loves you, he cares about everything you go through and he has revealed the way to heaven. John 3:16 reads For God so loved the world, that He gave his only begotten Son. That whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. God not only loves you, this verse uses the word so. Go so loved you, means that his love for you is so great.
If you want to go to heaven all you have to do is ask him to take you there. You only have to believe that he will answer that prayer. If you would like to go to heaven, then repeat this prayer. Dear Jesus, I believe that you died for my sin. I believe that you rose from the dead. I believe you want me to go to heaven. I open my heart to you. Come into my life. I choose to be your child. Forgive me of my sin, fill me with the Holy Spirit and set me free from sin, so that I can experience the Freedom that you have to offer me. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
