Now what a concept: Treasure your journey.
Before your mind skips to the trials and tribulations that you may face today, or the fact that today your life might not be what you had expected or hoped for, take the time to repeat these words to yourself: I will treasure my journey.
To "treasure" something means to hold it close to your heart. When we talk about treasuring your journey, what I mean is that we hold the gift of life itself with the highest regard; to make it an adventure marked by your personal path of discovery.
I often says, "Life is a process, not a destination." It's not like you're going to "get somewhere" and all will be well. Instead, the joy is in the path itself. Your journey is the day -to-day, moment-to- moment process, and the attitude that you bring to that path has everything to do with what you will receive along the way. Now the question is this: Do you anticipate what life is going to be like someday, or do you live life as it unfolds right now? Your answer will determine whether your life is experienced as an adventure, or whether it's constantly on hold until further notice!
I'll admit that there are days when we wake up and it feels more like we will be trudging through a muddy trail, with poison oak on all sides, than skipping freely through a meadow of wildflowers with the wind in our hair. it's precisely on these heavier days that we must remember to treasure our journey.
It's helpful to remind ourselves that on every great vacation we've ever been on, at least one thing went wrong, yet we refused to let it ruin our good time. It's with this same spirit that we must embark upon each day as a new beginning that holds an adventure in the wings of each moment. (Some of which, admittedly, we'd rather not go through again.)
I was once sitting in a meeting in Atlanta in a reflective state of mind. I watched all the homeowners walking by for several minutes. With each person's appearance screaming "individuality" at the banks,as they does in Atlanta, I thought to myself how grand it is that there are as many different people as shapes and colors.
I was acutely aware that each person who walked by had a unique story to tell, about the problems they are having with their mortgage, complete with a past, present, and future.
The culmination of our experiences completes our own unique biography; every person makes their mark in history with their own story to tell, and each day represents the turning of the page.
The system for early mortgage payoff was designed from seeing those homeowners who where in need of a solution for their mortgage on the journey.
From the time you wake until the time you go to sleep at night, you make your journey in fleeting moments and passing days. As you make it your single-minded intention to treasure this journey you are on, you begin to feel great gratitude as well as great love.
You see that life gives you all of what you need, and some of what you ask for. Every event has purpose and meaning, and you know that the small stuff doesn't really mean much at all.
In fact, it's fretting and worrying and dwelling on the small stuff that keeps you from treasuring your experiences daily.
So,make it a habit to wake up each day with the intention to see life as an incredible adventure- a journey to be treasured. Life is a great gift, unwrap it, it' is the treasure at the end of the rainbow..
As you begin each day, keeping this in mind, you'll experience wonder and awe as you open yourself to bliss.
