My problem is I can't seem to get on track. I read your emails and respect the way you work with people and wonder if you could give me some ideas to help me succeed, maybe like a list of things I could do and check off." LenoreLenore went on to say she is 'all over the place' jumping from idea to idea and program to program. She just wants to get on the right track.Unfortunately, there is no 'magic' potion we can dispense to assure success, but we can tell you there are some things we have done along the way, and maybe they will be useful to you:1. Admit where you are: Seems simple but too many people are not honest with themselves. If you are broke and out of work try to find something part time to at least provide grocery money. If you have some money to spend choose the program you believe is the best fit for your budget.2. Learn about the program: Get your questions answered, specifically regarding what it will cost to enroll and what it will cost after you enroll.3. Have a live contact: Make sure someone will answer the phone once you spend your money; either the program owners/operators or the person inviting you to enroll. Can't tell you how many emails we receive from people lamenting, "I spent my money and now nobody will talk to me."
4. Have a plan: What will you do after you enroll? Joining a program will not make you any money; working a system after you join will make you money. Don't fall for the idea that you can join and do nothing at all. We do have programs - Vanguard, Big Ticket, Passive Wealth, AMC/Mail Your Way - that do almost everything for you but there is no excuse for not reviewing your customer list as it grows and doing something to stay in touch; maybe an email now and then or just a note letting them know you are there if they need help.
5. It is your business: Every day an email arrives saying, "I joined that program and it didn't work." Programs don't work, people and systems do. We live in an age of "I'm a victim."today so it's easy to fall into the trap of blaming the program. But a business is like your car; e.g., it may look nice sitting there but it won't go anywhere until you get behind the wheel, start the engine, put it in drive and push the gas pedal. Likewise, your home business won't go anywhere without your effort.
6. Be patient: A home business is not a winning lotto ticket and is not likely to retire you overnight as some ads promise. Monitor your progress daily, do something to succeed daily, build your customer list, support your members.Success is a process, not an event, but it's a fun journey if you participate.
7. Be grateful: Some days the phone rings and you want to ignore it but remember the person calling has either sent you money or may do so in the future. Everybody who calls is a potential source of financial security for you and your family. Welcome your calls, your distractions, the questions, the challenges and everything that makes up your home business.
There is no magic to these 7 elements of home based success. You don't need an advanced technical degree to treat people well, answer questions, followup and thank them for trusting you and the rewards are, well, remarkable.
If you are 'all over the place' now go back, take another look at what you are doing, remind yourself our only true 'product' is service and set your course for success ....
