How to Pick a Great Niche for Website Flipping

Business Model.

Website flipping is one business model an Internet marketer can utilize to make money.  They build a site from scratch - usually a WordPress blog - fill it with content and graphics, and monetize it.  Next they list it for sale on a site such as Flippa and while they are waiting for bids, they start creating their next niche site to flip. This can be quite lucrative if done right.

Niche Subject.

If you want to start flipping sites, one of the most important things to consider is your niche subject.  It makes no sense at all to work hard at building a site that no one wants to buy. There has to be a market for what you intend promoting on this blog. So it's very important to pick a niche that SELLS, not one you find interesting.

No Passion.

Save the topics you're passionate about for sites you want to create and keep, unless of course, you're lucky enough to really like a topic that does sell.  But generally, forget about passion when it comes to building sites to flip. The more popular the niche, the more your site will be worth.

Bad Choice.

Some people pick a specific niche based on the number of PLR articles they've got on that subject to use for content.  While PLR can be a huge time saver, you're still going to use your valuable time setting up the blog, filling it with content and getting it ready to sell. That time is wasted if the niche is unpopular and no one wants to buy your site.

Good Research.

One way to pick a niche for flipping is to do some research on sites like Flippa.  It's easy enough to find the sites that have sold - just look it up on Flippa.  Then start a spreadsheet where you can list the subject of the sites that have sold and how much they sold for. You might also want to include the age of the site, how many posts were on it, and the different ways it was monetized.

As you compile your information, you will begin to notice certain topics that sell better than others.  You don't really have to know why, you just have to identify the topics. And it can change over time, so do your research regularly.

Here are some examples of niches that did well in the past:

Weight loss
Twitter
Facebook
Acne
Dog training
Site flipping
Making money online

DIY Research.

But don't take my word for it, do your own research and see what you come up with. While doing your research on Flippa, take a look at the sites that ended up as unsold. It will give you an idea of what not to do.

Recommendation.

If you're considering blog flipping as an internet business model, do yourself the favor and listen to Dominiche Podcast.

Website flipping can be fun and profitable for those who like to start new blogs but don't want to continuously keep them up.  If this sounds like you, pick an evergreen niche with the help of the above information and create that blog for flipping.

Life should be fun - enjoy it!
