The Top 7 Blogging Mistakes You Should Avoid

A lot of us are keen to jump in and get going as soon as possible without knowing the basics. No problem blogging mistakes are not fatal, they can be corrected. However, it's better to avoid them.

1. The Wrong Niche.

If you are not passionate about the your chosen niche, if you don't love what you are doing, keeping motivated will be impossible. You need to be interested and knowledgeable about your choice of theme. Don't blog about something which you don't really know, like going into the 'make money online' market when you are still struggling to make your first online Dollar. Your credibility will be zero. It takes time and effort to blog - 'fake it till you make it' will not bring blogging success.

2. Infrequent Updates.

Updating once or twice a month will be very costly to your blog. The most successful blogs are updated with new posts regularly - at least once a day. Regular posting will keep your readers happy and your search engine rankings will be better.

3. Unfocused Theme.

Trying to cover too many topics with your blog will not do. Even though you may have many interests, your blog needs focus. If your blog's theme is about super foods, politics and social media, it will be difficult to acquire a core following. The narrower the focus of your blog, the easier it will be to get lots of readers and make money in the process.

4. Excessive Advertising.

If you plan on monetizing your blog, be smart and cautious about it. There is nothing wrong with a few ads. However, adding a bunch of large flashy ads will result in your content getting lost. It's difficult enough getting people to read your content. You want visitors to come back, not for ads to drive them away.

5. Too Many Blogs.

Don't try to blog in several different niches using multiple blogs. You will spread yourself too thin and success will be hard to attain. To make a success of your blog, you need it to be an authority site. People come to you because you know your subject. Don't divide your attention between five mediocre blogs, rather concentrate on one with a lot of traffic. It will be easier to make money from one authority blog.

6. Graphics Overload.

Pictures are great - people love them. However, when done excessively, just like ads, it may be counter productive. There are still many users with slow internet connections and it is frustrating to wait for a page full of images to load.

7. The Wrong Motivation.

If you begin blogging just for the cash, you're going to find it difficult to succeed.
You've got to be passionate about your market and truly care about your material and your audience. If money is your only goal and you don't enjoy writing about your subject, this just isn't going to work for you.

I'd be glad if you found this post about blogging mistakes useful. Mistake number eight would be not to correct where necessary.

Life should be fun - enjoy it!
