More than 90% of marketers use social media for their business, and Twitter is very much part of that group. Here are a few tips to help with your Twitter tactics.
Decision.
You need to decide between quality or quantity. If you are a marketer, then quantity of followers will be important. It,s like building a list. However, if you want to keep things personal, then go for quality.
Replies.
You can reply to a tweet by putting the @ symbol in front of someone's name. This makes the tweet stand out. It is useful for starting conversations with people in order to build relationships.
Backgrounds.
You don't want your Twitter background to look like the default Twitter page. Choose something else that distinguishes you from the crowd.
Choose your friends.
Befriending people who share your interests will benefit all of you.
Use Twitter to steer people to other resources that you use for marketing such as a blog or website.
Don't be boring.
Remember that Twitter is a social site. Make sure your posts are generally entertaining, interesting or useful.
Empty the trash.
You can always "unfollow" spammers and people who are not posting positive comments. Dont hesitate to get rid of them.
Use links.
Don't mention a resource without a link. Your opinions will have more impact because they're backed up with real links. Tweets with links are more likely to be retweeted.
Shorter is better.
Tweets shorter than 100 characters get better engagement, except when a link is included. Then 120 130 characters seem to be better.
Twitter routine.
Figure out a posting routine and then stick with it. Once you get into the rhythm of posting, your readers will stick with you.
Life should be fun - enjoy it!
