My Leyte lady friend, Victoria, is the surrogate mother to a 16 year old boy caled Nico who is supposedly coming to the end of his chemotherapy treatment for Leukemia by the end of this year. He lives with his grandparents, as both of his parents work overseas. Almost their entire earnings go towards paying for Nico's chemo treatment and keeping their two daughters in school. There is no money left over for any kind of emergency.
I say supposedly coming to the end of his treatment, but sadly that looks increasingly unlikely, as he keeps having to be rushed into the ER at least once or twice a month - and the problems are entirely caused by malnutrition! The grand parents just do not have enough money to feed him properly with a good diet of the required foods, fruit and vegetables that he so badly needs if he is going to complete the chemo treatment and make a FULL recovery. It breaks my heart to watch this happen, and really wish I could do more to help, but sadly my small pension does not allow me to.
So I need to find 150 - 200 per month for about 6 months to buy food for a proper diet, and help towards the chemo expenses, Say 10 x 20 or 20 x 10 - or a mix of the two - could literally save his life. What is the best way to go about achieving this? by asking people if they can make a small contribution of say 10 - 20 a month for six months into Victoria's PayPal account - see below.
It is becoming more and more urgent, as the end of the treatment approaches, to make sure he is strong and fit enough to be treated at all. Once, and if, it is he wants to go to college to train to be a dentist, so a life worth saving, I think!
