Jim Rohn once said, and I paraphrase, "You can't dig a hole by turning the dirt over in your mind."
Actions and results get you where you want to be. You get to decide what actions to take.
While at a conference, I set a goal. This is what happened.
"You can. Your choice." That's what my mentor, C. S. Hughes, said to me when I told him about the goal.
As the months have gone by, I realize what he said was far more true than I realized at the time.
Everyday we make choices about what we do and don't do. All choices have results. You get closer to your goal, or you move farther away from your goal. Whatever it was, you (no one else) made the choice.
"But, but . . . ", you say. No buts. Life happens. It is what you think, feel, and do when life happens, that makes you stronger (or less), more resilient (or less), and moves you closer (or further) from your goal. (Or sometimes, it changes your whole direction.)
Whatever your goal or goals are for 2014, revise them for these last 5 1/2 weeks of the year. If you are nearing completion, then give those goals a bump up. If you haven't quite made it, then consider what it will take to make those goals, and do it. If you are no where near your goals, then revise them to be more reasonable. Then please remember my mentor's words: "You can. Your choice."
