Are you suffering from nagging headaches that just wont go away? Is frequent insomnia causing you to feel tired and listless throughout the day? Do you find yourself having mood swings? If you answered yes to all three questions, its likely that you are suffering from stress. Common stress symptoms can affect your body, thoughts, feelings, and behavior. Being able to recognize common stress symptoms can give you a jump on managing them. Stress that's left unchecked can contribute to health problems, such as high blood pressure, heart disease, obesity and diabetes. Here are ten things that you can do to handle stress.

Get Help from a Professional if Needed
A therapist can help you work through stress and find better ways to deal with problems. For more serious stress-related disorders, like post-traumatic stress disorder, therapy is highly essential. There are medications that can help ease symptoms of depression and anxiety, and can help with sleep disorders.

Relax
Its important to unwind in a way that works best for you. Try a bubble bath, deep breathing, yoga, meditation, massage therapy, or just good ole walking. Do whatever relaxes you both indoors and out.

Sleep
Your stress could get worse if you dont get enough sleep. With enough sleep, it is easier to cope with challenges and stay healthy. Try to get between seven to nine hours of sleep every night.

Keep it Moving
Physical activity not only helps relieve your tense muscles, but helps your mood too. Your body makes certain chemicals called endorphins before and after you exercise. These relieve stress and improve your mood.

Talk it Out with Friends and Loved-Ones
Talking to friends and loved-ones about your problems can be very helpful. Be sure that whoever you talk to is a good listener, and is not out to judge or ridicule you.

Keep a Journal

Spend each day writing down whatever thoughts, ideas, experiences, or solutions that come to mind. Keeping a journal is very therapeutic, and can help you deal with whatever is causing you stress. Just be sure to keep it out of the reach of nosy busybodies looking to read your stuff.

Do Volunteer Work
Volunteering is not only great for dealing with stress, but it is also a great way to help others. Choose whatever it is that you love to do, and try to find organizations that are looking for volunteers.

Hobby Up

Everyone has some hobby that they enjoy, and that definitely goes for you as well. Hobbies are great for dealing with stress, because they keep you lost in doing things that you enjoy. Also, doing a hobby helps to develop your skills in the hobby itself.

Say No Once in Awhile
The word no is the worst word in the world for lots of people. They have a problem when it is told to them when they were hoping for a yes. However, they have an even bigger problem saying no. If you feel like saying no, dont hesitate. Say it. Doing so will decrease your stress level.

Plan Your Day

A day-planner can be very useful when planning your day. It will keep you organized, focused, and relaxed. It will relieve you from doing things last minute or forgetting to do them at all. Plus, it is a good stress reliever. So, get yourself a good day-planner, and arrange your activities everyday.

These are a few of the effective ways you can handle stress. The takeaway is to keep calm, stay active doing things you enjoy, and talking to people who are willing to listen. Practice these methods everyday, and you will be on track to leading a stress-free life.
