As a subscriber junkie, my emails are bombarded with many online business promotional materials. Why, because I have subscrembed to them, I cant seem to stop being curious about online businesses. They in turn love me because they get to show off their newsletters, catalogs updates and many more promotional materials since I have agreed to be updated on their material.
Since I am on many online business lists I will receive their updates through email. If a promotional material piques my interest then I will simply go to their site to learn more or to purchase. The website operators or owners enjoy reminding me of their existence. The competition can get pretty tight with so many sites in the internet that offers the same products or services but I seem to belong too many of them so Im never forgotten.
There are a few opt-in marketing strategies that grab my desire for more. In my experience as a subscriber junkie, some promotions are very simple; some are very outlandish while there are some that would just outright lie (I really hate those). Those that were effective for me kept me going back to their site and learning more. The more persuasive ones even got me to purchase and I have spent a few pennies thats for sure.
As a business owner myself, it is vital to know what is essential in opt-in marketing and what makes the subscribers begging for more instead of lining up to unsubscribe.
-Keep your promotional materials light, creative and original. Your emails should feel light and warm and friendly. While you do want your customers to take you and your products and services seriously, you also want to show them that you know how to have fun.
-Splash some color, photos and articles that can be related to you. Provide newsletters or promotional materials that are eye catching and grabbing that they wont be able to take their eyes off them. Pique their interests.
Subscriber junkies like to be talked to so be real and talk to them. Still have good content. If have never invested in a professional copy writer but you have the finances, have them write for you. Make sure your copy writer is effective and can build trust between you and your customers and establish your credibility in what they write.
Outline the benefits of your product and services and why they need what you are offering. Be natural. Dont seem desperate or too persuasive. Make it entertaining as well as lead them to buying from you.
Dont leave people guessing. You should lead them to you and not vice versa. Explain to them what they need to do in a manner that wont be confusing. Try to anticipate also what your target client needs. Do your research and information gathering, many sites will be able to help you with that.
Provide clear and crisp images of what you are offering. If the people know what you have for them, they are more likely to beg for more. For example, if you are selling a car, provide them photos but only enough to encourage them to go to your site for more.
Being a subscriber junkie has its benefits but hopefully you learn from my mistakes and choose a better hobby, better yet, just learn to market and you will be much better off.
