Almost time to file tax returns again.
Isnt that an exciting thought? Not!
IS FORM 1040-EZ FOR YOU?
Probably not. The IRS is making a
big deal out of being able to use
1040-EZ for any taxpayer who
makes less than $57,000, which,
they say, is 70 percent of all
taxpayers.
But what they are forgetting to
tell you or remind you is that you
cannot attach anything to an EZ-
such as a Schedule C (to get tax
deductions for home-business
expenses) or a Form 8829 (to
get benefits of a home-office).
If you have an active home-based
business, you do NOT want to use
Form 1040-EZ to file your taxes.
WHEN AND HOW TO FILE
YOUR 2012 TAX RETURNS
As of a couple days ago, the IRS
says it is now ready to accept tax
returns for 2012. (The delay was
due to tax law changes enacted
by Congress on Jan 6th which
caused changes to some tax
forms and some computer re-
programming.
I always recommend that any
taxpayer with an active home
based business, have a tax
professional prepare your tax
returns for you. But make sure
he or she has specific expertise
in Home-Business Tax Law.
(Most tax pros do not!)
I teach a Certification Course in
Home-Business Tax Law to tax
professionals. Those who have
been Certified and that I
recommend are listed on my
website at
