Cancer Comes to Kill, Steal, and Destroy

Cancer, just like the Enemy himself, comes to our lives to kill, steal and destroy, but thanks be to God, who has already given us the victory more than 2000 years ago. Halleluiah!

I still remember this event just like it was yesterday even though it has actually been seven years ago. Thank, thank God for his miracle working power!

I had been having a little bit of a problem with spotting, but being that I was past that episode in my life, it alarmed me. My gynecologist thought it would be better for me to schedule a female clean up or a D&C, which literally means that he would scrape my uterus to see what was going on.

After he did the out-patient procedure, he told me, Dont worry, everything looks good." That relieved both my husband and me and we went home with a sigh of relief. My follow up appointment was about two weeks later and my husband took the day off to accompany me to see the doctor for reports.

I was taken to the examining room and told to undress so that the doctor could check me. I told the nurse, "I am just here for reports, I just had a D&C two weeks ago and I am still very sensitive in that area." She told me, "Just get ready in case that the doctor wants to check you." I went ahead and did as I was told, but my alarm sensors went on. I started to get worried, but before I had time to worry too much, the doctor came in the examining room. The doctor went ahead and examined me as carefully as possible without hurting me, and then shook his head. "You look very clean in there and I did not detect any signs of cancer, but the biopsy came back positive. Put your clothes on and let's discuss this in my office. Needless to say, I was all shook up. How can this be happening to me? The doctor had told me that he thought that there was nothing to worry about! Why? All I could do was ask God to give me peace, because my mind was racing one hundred miles a minute thinking the worst.

My husband and I walked in to his office with a very sad and worried look in our face. The doctor told me that he had good news, but also bad news. The good news is that it seems as though we caught it early, the bad news are that it is a rare type of cancer and works very aggressively and that we needed to schedule an appointment with an oncologist right away.

He went ahead and scheduled an appointment with a local oncologist. My husband was very disturbed and had told the doctor that if there was a special place that could take care of this situation that he did not mind traveling just so that they could give me the best treatment possible being that he told us that my diagnosis was very rare.

We went to the local oncologist appointment because I wanted to see what they would tell me here locally.  I wanted to stay here in McAllen instead of moving out of town and spending more money with travel and hotel expense. I already knew where there was a good hospital in Houston but to avoid spending and being away from the family, I thought it would be better to have the procedure that the doctor had talked about here in McAllen, Texas.

Upon seeing the local place and the number of people that were there to see the doctor, my husband decided that we were not staying in McAllen to get my treatments. It was time to start looking for a medical place that would be able to help us out throughout our horror time. So, we started to ask God for guidance for a good doctor that could help us out.

God has a response for everything, if only we stop to ask him. Many times we think we know better and we hurry along without asking him for guidance.  If we ask, we receive.  Ask and ye shall receive, seek and ye shall find, knock and it shall be opened unto you.

(To be continued).
