You�ve probably heard the standard diet and weight loss tips: exercise, nutrition, and lifestyle, but here are more ideas you might want to consider. Losing weight is not easy unless you have a fast metabolism. Most people�s metabolism naturally slows down at a certain age or if the lifestyle is skewed away from healthy. Your challenge would be to find out what is keeping the weight from dropping or what is causing you to gain weight. So, here goes �
The first key to losing weight: Family Genes
Have you studied your family history? Is there a trend you can pinpoint as to weight class, body shape, inclination towards exercise, lifestyle habits like smoking, partying, and drinking? Talk to your siblings, parents, aunts, and even cousins or just be very observant and go over the family albums. Understand how diet and weight loss has any bearing, if at all, on your genes.
If there is a tendency to gain and not lose the weight, then you have the key to solving your problem. It will also be uplifting in the sense that your current weight is not just about your eating habits.
The second key: Eat Fiber Daily
Fiber is something you eat but cannot process. It helps you move your bowels and flush out whatever your body doesn�t need like waste and cholesterol. It can also keep you thin. This is because fiber fills you up so you eat less. It also isn�t digested quickly which means it stays in your stomach so you don�t get cravings soon after eating. For example, try eating a slice of whole grain bread today and note how long before you feel hungry. Then tomorrow eat 2 slices of white bread and see how that goes.
There are different sources for fiber, many of them on the shelves of your local grocery store. Just read the labels. There are even supplements and liquid drinks you can buy that are full of natural fiber. You can also choose from fruits, vegetables, and beans.
The third key: Hydrate
Whether you exercise or not, you should drink water, not sodas and not juices. You should also monitor your alcoholic drinks and wine because they all contain weight gaining ingredients. It would be better if you perspire daily so you flush out some of that water through sweat. If not, you could end up bloated and swollen. If you can�t exercise as much as prescrembed to you, then reduce your salt intake.
The fourth key: Get Help
You can either do it on your own or you can get help. Face this issue straight on and it will bring you one step closer to your ideal or desired weight. By doing it on your own, you must have determination and grit. As mentioned earlier, losing weight is not easy. It�s a fight, and often a life-long adjustment. As for getting help, you need to choose wisely. Do not get latched to diet pills or fad diet and weight loss plans. Do the research, and get your doctor to approve if you have a pre-existing medical condition.
The fifth key: Get a Diet Buddy
Having someone to work with you on your diet and weight loss plan just makes the whole process easier. If two or more of you are working together it is less likely that one will slip. So find someone who will be there for you always, or at least until you can stand on your own.
