Qualities that show you're a leader
Honesty
Whatever ethical plane you hold yourself to when you are responsible for a team of people, it's important to raise the bar even higher. Your business and its employees are a reflection of yourself, and if you make honest and ethical behavior a key value, your team will follow suit.
When I worked for SPD Technologies in Philadelphia Pa. My job was in the Quality Control Dept. It was my duty to Inspect each piece of material or component that arrived on a daily basis.
The accuracy and operation of each one were of high importance. Due to the fact that they were being used to build Navy surface Vessel Boards to be installed aboard Navy ships.
I became quite good at my job and was promoted to Team Leader. Not only did I do inspections of the products used, But I also was responsible for the high voltage testing once the boards were built.
I worked with a team of highly talented people who knew how to wire and Install each Item for it's safe operations.
This job brought with it a lot of prestige due to the fact that once a board was complete the high Navy Officials would come into the plant to watch me show them the operation of the boards and ensure them that all was safe and ready to be installed aboard their appointed ships.
As a leader of these talented team members, they always made me proud of the end results. Their hard work and dedication is what made us a successful team and showed the higher ups that myself and my team we were the best of what we did. Everything was done above board and with Integrity & Honesty.
Now as I have moved on in my life and running my own business, I instill the same qualities that I did when I was employed with SPD.
Honesty is key to the success I have with my team and my customers. A major priority that I take very seriously in all my dealings.
