I could not believe my own ears !
I have used the same primary care physician for most of 30 years.
He had always told me he would never retire.
He was a great doctor and would see me after hours if needed.
June 1 I received a letter saying that he was retiring June 14 would be his last day. He was turning over his practice to a doctor with two other clinics.
I called to be worked in for congestion and was told there was no way as they were booked full for more than a week and recommended I go to a Minute Clinic. The Minute Clinic gave me otc allergy medicine which did nothing exce[t relieve me of $125 so I went to Urgent Care and had Xrays and received 2 heavy round of antibiotics for Bronchitis.
I then knew I should find another doctor so I asked other doctors for names they may recommended.
I knew there was no problem since I have Medicare and one of the best supplementary plans. (Keeps us ins. Poor but needed)
I contacted 2 large clinics in Mecklenburg County, 4 clinics in West Union County and 2 in Central Union County and all of them were taking new patients but very politely advised that they no longer take Medicare Insurance.
I did finally locate 1 other in Union County that had a new doctor that had just relocated here and would accept me for primary care.
At my first visit he ordered X-rays and diagnosed pneumonia. I am now being treated with more medications.
It makes me wonder if this is the good old USA that I have always lived in. As the time gets closer everyone is getting very concerned and many are scared. I sincerely hope you will be prepared for such an event until our great leaders figure out what they are doing and get it fixed.
I feel sorry for all of the folks waiting to get on Medicare as when they finally get on Medicare they may have a hard time finding a doctor unless they are far more lucky than me.
