I am currently a caregiver for my mom. Although she is fairly independent she still requires someone to be with her all the time as she is a fall risk. Therefore it is a 24/7 job and at times I wish I could go back to an 8 hour work day but a nursing home is not an option.
I am blessed to have an adult day health program in my community where I can take her for 5-6 hours a day. This allows me time to do my errands, grocery shop, pay bills and work online. Oh, and of course take a nap when we've had sleepless nights.
We have moments where she is very with in and then we have those that I wish I could be inside her head to understand what is going on. But then again, maybe not. There are humorous moments and sad moments and we get through them.
Even though I have been a caregiver all of my life, I never expected to be in a full time position. You see other than driving mom was totally independent until almost 98 years of age. Then one day that all changed.
Of course we 'expect' it at that age but it can happen at any point in our lives. So learn to cherish the moment and live for today.
I wish you the best in all your endeavors whether it be online pursuits or personal and family. But enjoy it whatever it may be.
