So, the
holidays are over, your favorite football team is out of the playoffs for this
year and the weather outside is a frightful -45 degrees with the wind
chill. An excellent time to get to some
of those things you resolved to do after the holidays, but what to do first.
Before you veg out in front of the TV heres a suggestion. Why not finish that book your friend gave you about a fighter pilot during the Korean War that you started reading before July 4th and still havent finished? And speaking of literary pursuits, when was the last time you looked at the novel youre working on or actually wrote that thank you note to Aunt Bea for the nice Christmas gift.
Then theres
that recipe for Hungarian goulash you just came across that you know you have all
the ingredients for on hand. Bet that sounds good for dinner tonight along with
a glass of that Red Burgundy thats left over from the holiday punch.
Why not find
that pattern for the dress you want to sew. You know the one thats been
collecting dust on your sewing machine table since Halloween. Or remember that
project you told your spouse youd finish in the work shop? Guess what, its still there.
Believe me I
can identify with these examples. Sometimes we find ourselves with leisure time
we just havent planned for and the more we think about the things we could do
the more they seem overwhelming to the point where we dont know where to start
and indecision sets in followed by inertia and nothing gets done. Heres a
possible solution.
Write down every
item on your to do list then study it and assign each one a priority. After
deciding what should be done first write that one down on a separate piece of
paper in big letters and throw the first list away. Now post that item
somewhere where you cant miss seeing it and focus on just that one item. Now you only have one thing to accomplish instead of a dozen or more. Dont even think about the others
until that one is completed then make a new list and do the same thing and you'll be amazed at what you accomplish.
Theres a TV
commercial about a pain reliever that references a fact of physics that says
that a body at rest tends to stay at rest and a body in motion tends to stay in
motion and that applies here as well.
Just the action of choosing which item to do first gets the ball
rolling. Many times the hardest part of
any project is simply getting started.
Do you sit
down to pay your bills each month and see that once again youre running out of
money well before you run out of month and you havent been able to save a
dime and you're down to your last Do you tell yourself for the hundredth time that you need to find a way
to generate additional income? However getting a second job is not a viable
option for you, if you can even find one.
Have you
ever considered the fact that there are hundreds of millions of people online
today and that with the advent of all the new communication devices available
today that number is experiencing tremendous growth? Are you also aware that
Internet shopping is one of the fastest growing segments of our economy, soon to rival even stalwarts like Walmart?
If youve ever considered looking into an
online home business but dont know where to start let me suggest one that is
no hype, no lies, no scams and very reasonable. Make the first move with no
obligation to do anything but review it at no charge. It could well be the
impetus that makes the difference and gets that body in motion. Remember, every
journey begins with a first step.
