14Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. 15Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it gives light unto all that are in the house. 16Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
Reflections:
Jesus said were to be like a city set high upon a hill. Its kind of hard to hide one of those ... a city full of light that is. You can see it afar off because of its radiated brilliance.
Interestingly, a city is not made up of only one light, but many different lights. This surely must speak of like-minded believers, all gifted differently yet manifesting their gifts together for the glory of God.
We mustnt hide our light from the world. Its so easy to do that isnt it? Most Christians have heard the expression: Were the only Bible some people will ever read. Please Lord, make us one, like a city on a hill a courageous beacon of hope to a lost and dying world
