1 Corinthians 10:12-14 (NKJV)

12 Therefore let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall. 13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

 

Reflections:

In this age of the internet we can be but a click away from many forms of spiritual, emotional and even physical danger. They say that curiosity killed the cat -- how very true this is about the internet. Only problem is it won�t be the cat!

 

If you think you could never fall prey to the internet�s enticements, you�re just the one the devil�s been looking for to emotionally feast upon. Perhaps a good comparison to the internet would be a Venus Fly-trap. A Venus Fly-trap is a very attractive carnivorous plant that catches and digests animal prey�mostly insects. It has �trip-hairs� on it that sense its prey as it passes over it and quickly snaps shut to then feast upon its victim.

 

Many Christians enjoy the information highway of the internet -- I use it each day to help with �The Bible Portion for Today.� �Facebook,� �Twitter� and �You Tube,� are also enjoyable, but potentially dangerous sites. Be sober; be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour (1 Pet 5:8).

 

I have personally sat with those who have entered the Venus Fly-trap of the Internet and were absolutely devastated spiritually. Thank God they recovered, but it was only by the grace and mercy of God who �makes the way of escape, that we may be able to bear it.�

 

A word to the wise is sufficient: �let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall� ...
