2 Kings 13:20-21 (KJV)
20And Elisha died, and they buried him. And the bands of the Moabites invaded the land at the coming in of the year. 21And it came to pass, as they were burying a man, that, behold, they spied a band of men; and they cast the man into the sepulchre of Elisha: and when the man was let down, and touched the bones of Elisha, he revived, and stood up on his feet.
Reflections:
Before Elijah, the mighty prophet of God who called fire down from heaven, died his servant Elisha asked him for a double portion of his spirit (to do twice as many miracles as he had done). When Elisha died he had, in fact, done twice as many miracles as Elijah, minus one that is. Thats where our verse begins today.
God is so precise that he couldnt let it go at that. He owed Elisha one more miracle and he got it! When they cast that dead mans body into the tomb and it touched Elishas bones, WHAM! He was snapped back to life right then and there!
Sometimes it may seem like the end of a situation has come, and weve lost. We immediately question God as to why he didnt come through for us.
We must remember that God isnt confined by the natural order of things -- he operates outside of time and space. But rest assured, he will show up, in his time, bringing life out of what may seemingly appear to be a completely dead situation.
There were those who were saying, Oh, God sure let Elisha down. Theres no way He can do it now -- Elishas dead! Well, it wasnt long before they had to eat their words.
We must never forget that God is always faithful to his promise. Our confession shouldnt be that God hasnt come through, rather it should be that God hasnt come through YET! Just hold on beloved -- hold on!!!
