Reflections:
Sometimes its good to do a little soul-searching. And so for today lets consider the following: When we lift up Jesus are we really drawing attention to Him, or are we somehow stealing His limelight to satisfy our own inner need for attention?
We must be careful at our initial surface reaction. Were really good at deceiving ourselves. In order to get a clear answer we must allow this question to penetrate our defenses and surrender it to the Holy Spirit.
Now I know that this issue is subtle and most folks have only good intentions, but in the end we must sincerely ask ourselves, is it Christ who is being exalted or is it us receiving His praise instead? Do folks run to Jesus or to us as a result of what we say or do?
We mustnt use God to build our own (or someone elses) kingdom or popularity on earth. We hear so much of my ministry, my spiritual gifts, my talents, me, me , me -- my, my, my!
But Jesus said, And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me. (not us) ...
