7 Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams,
Ten thousand rivers of oil?
Shall I give my firstborn formy transgression,
The fruit of my body for the sin of my soul?
8 He has shown you, O man, what is good;
And what does the LORD require of you
But to do justly,
To love mercy,
And to walk humbly with your God?
Reflections:
So many are distraught and up tight over trying to please, what they sometimes perceive to be an, all too demanding God. Just what is it that the Lord requires from us? What is it that really does please God?
Well, its certainly not the extreme gruesome religious sacrifice nor is it the extreme gifts of our financial substance as mentioned in todays verse. Its quite simply the attitude and actions of our heart.
To treat people fairly, to show mercy when its not deserved, and to humble down before God, this is what pleases Him.
Whats really most amazing is that these are the natural results of the Holy Spirit living and operating in our hearts and minds. We dont even have to focus on bearing fruit the fruit will automatically come as we desire God with a deeper passion and fuller surrender. His life will flow out through us and guess what? Well just get to stand back and watch what happens in amazement !
