1 Corinthians 3:1-3 (AMP)
3 However, brethren, I could not talk to you as to spiritual [men], but as to nonspiritual [men of the flesh, in whom the carnal nature predominates], as to mere infants [in the new life] in Christ [unable to talk yet!]
2 I fed you with milk, not solid food, for you were not yet strong enough [to be ready for it]; but even yet you are not strong enough [to be ready for it],
3 For you are still [unspiritual, having the nature] of the flesh [under the control of ordinary impulses]. For as long as [there are] envying and jealousy and wrangling and factions among you, are you not unspiritualand of the flesh, behaving yourselves after a human standard and like mere (unchanged) men?
Reflections:
This is a hard word to even consider, because each of us wants to believe that were really advanced and spiritual. However, the test of true spirituality is what we do, and how we love, and with whose love we love with.
It is not about how much we know, or how well we can speak Christianese. We can say were an apple tree all we want, but unless we produce apples were just beating the breeze.
If were still being controlled by our OSN (old sin nature), reacting out of the same old uncontrolled appetites and impulses and behaving ourselves after a human standard like mere unchanged men and women, who are we kidding?
If this is the case, according to the apostle Paul, were still simply babes in Christ at best. Bible knowledge doesnt does not equal salvation. We can quote all the verses we want to, but that doesnt make us mature in Christ.
17 Therefore if any person is [ingrafted] in Christ (the Messiah) he is a new creation (a new creature altogether); the old [previous moral and spiritual condition] has passed away. Behold, the fresh and new has come (2 Cor 5:17) !
