Mark 5:35-36 (KJV)
35While he yet spake, there came from the ruler of the synagogue's house certain which said, Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further? 36As soon as Jesus heard the word that was spoken, he saith unto the ruler of the synagogue, Be not afraid, only believe.
Reflections:
Be not afraid, only believe. Dont be afraid of what? -- Dont be afraid not to believe. Did you catch that? The Lord is saying have the courage to trust me; step out beyond your fear and have the courage to believe in me.
Jesus said to the father of a demonized boy, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth (Mk 9:23). What are you believing for, or have you stopped trusting God for the supernatural?
How about we pick three things (things that are very important to us that we, in our own strength, cannot accomplish) and believe God for them. Write them down on a piece of paper and date it. Maybe place the list on your refrigerator or somewhere where youll see it often. When you notice it remind God of whats on your list.
And then why dont we go out and tell at least three people what were believing God for (putting ourselves on the spot)? If were really believing, we will act on what we believe. Our stepping out, and testifying what were believing for, is our works that accompany faith:
Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works (Jas 2:17-18).
Nows a good a time as any to make our list
