Numbers 32:22-23 (NKJV)
22 And the land is subdued before the LORD, then afterward you may return and be blameless before the LORD and before Israel; and this land shall be your possession before the LORD. 23 But if you do not do so, then take note, you have sinned against the LORD; and be sure your sin will find you out.
Reflections:
It is said that there are two things that are certain in this life: death and taxes. Well, were going to add one more to the list, and that is that you can be sure your sin will find you out. This is an immutable principle of God. What we sow, we will also reap -- plant bad seed; reap bad harvest. Perhaps we havent thought this through adequately
Is it possible (that even as Christians) sin can still ravage and or destroy our lives? Take for example the born-again repentant brother or sister in Christ whos sitting on death row for murder. Yes, they have absolutely been forgiven and beloved, yes they will absolutely still suffer the ultimate consequence of their sin
How about the lingering and unpleasant effects of a divorce or the emotional and/or physiological effects of drug abuse long after one has been freed from its awful grip or the young girl who has carelessly entered into fornication resulting in pregnancy; having to raise a child alone, etc. Yes, the gash that sin had made has been cleansed and stitched closed by Christ, but theres those scars that sin has left
If we walk in the Spirit we will not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
