1A false balance and unrighteous dealings are extremely offensive and shamefully sinful to the Lord, but a just weight is His delight.
Reflections:
Todays verse really speaks of the integrity of the Holy Spirit living within us. When we become a true born-again Christian, and the Holy Spirit enters our heart, He brings with him many things that we hitherto never had. Lets take a look at a few of these just weights:
A true salvation (not by works by rather freely by grace) (Eph 2:8-9).
A burning hunger for God where nothing else satisfies (Matt 11:12 Amplified version).
Godly guidance (John 16:13).
Empowerment with which to fulfill the calling of God on our lives to witness (Acts 1:8).
A deep desire for purity and holiness (Rom 6:22).
Comfort (2 Cor 1:4)
His fruits flowing through us out to others (Gal 5:22-23)
All these enablements from the Holy Spirit have one common thread tying them all together. They are all given by grace; and not even one is because of our effort, or good works not even one! We didnt earn them and we cant reproduce them without Him. When we take this thought today of a just weight is His delight, and pass it through the cross of Christ, it comes out a just desire!
Without this God-given deep-down desire we can only bring forth a false balance from our flesh (our sinful nature), and according to our verse today that is extremely offensive and shamefully sinful to the Lord.
Whats the bottom line? We must stop trying to earn Gods favor, we already have it in Christ. Stop trying to reach God by resolving to be good and to live right. It is impossible, for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God (Rom 3:23). We have Gods favor, not because of who we are, but rather because of who He is. If we will but cease from our labor, and enter His rest, His attributes will naturally flow out from us bringing with it great joy and blessing
