Mark 12:13-17 (New King James Version)
13 Then they sent to Him some of the Pharisees and the Herodians, to catch Him in His words. 14 When they had come, they said to Him, -- Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not? 15 Shall we pay, or shall we not pay?
But He, knowing their hypocrisy, said to them, Why do you test Me? Bring Me a denarius that I may seeit. 16 So they brought it.
And He said to them, Whose image and inscription is this? They said to Him, Caesars.
17 And Jesus answered and said to them, Render to Caesar the things that are Caesars, and to God the things that are Gods.
And they marveled at Him.
Reflections:
And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil (John 3:19).
On the other hand neither is God interested in the things of Caesar. The kingdom of God and the kingdoms of this earth have nothing in common. Love is the machine that drives Christianity and holiness is its product. Gods interest in the world is in the sinners that inhabit it -- the ones He loved so, so much that he sent Jesus to die for (John 3:16).
God has thrown a most precious life preserver into the earths septic sea of sin and death and encourages whosoever will to grab hold of it. Those who are rescued by Jesus Christ are then trained by the Holy Spirit to become fishers of men; to win others to Christ! As we labor for God in earths troubled sea we automatically store up eternal riches in heaven. How great is that?
Let the world render foolishly to Satans Caesar, but for me and my house we will render service to the living God! What say you ?
