2 Chronicles 25:2 (KJV)
2 And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord, but not with a perfect heart.
Reflections:
The context of this verse is found within the reign of King Amaziah. Amaziah started out well, but for some unknown reason he began to make poor choices:
Now it came to pass, after that Amaziah was come from the slaughter of the Edomites, that he brought the gods of the children of Seir, and set them up to be his gods, and bowed down himself before them, and burned incense unto them (2 Chron 25:14).
The blessing of God ceased as Amaziah continued to make bad choices until finally he was killed by his own people. Amaziah was a fool. He had it all going for him as long as he was faithful to God, but for some reason that wasnt enough.
This is not uncommon in the body of Christ today. For many Christians the blessing of God on their lives, for some unbeknownst reason, does not seem to be enough. It seems that the pull of the world (like a whirlwind) becomes so irresistible they get sucked into the vortex of the lust of the eyes, the lust of the flesh and the pride of life.
Adultery, fornication and divorce are so common to the professing Christians of our day. While its true that the pull of the world has never been greater, the pull of God clearly has the potential to be far greater still.
Consider this controversial verse written to believers:
The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light (Rom13:21).
We have been given a new and perfect heart freely by grace lets choose to use it for the glory of God. The Holy Spirit will do the rest
