Psalm 124:7-8 (NKJV)

 7 Our soul has escaped as a bird from the snare of the fowlers;
         The snare is broken, and we have escaped.
 8 Our help is in the name of the LORD,
         Who made heaven and earth.

Reflections:

Those of us that can say the above are truly a blessed people. So many of our brothers and sisters still remain in emotional bondage and simply do not know the way out. Were told that when we come to Christ all our sins are forgiven and all our past is dealt with. Theres no need to look back. We just need to keep praying, read our Bibles and go to church to hear the word preached and everything will all work out.

Why is it then that so many Christians are so emotionally debilitated in life and cant receive even the smallest of victories they so long for? Jesus said that If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed (John 8:36). Indeed means certainly! Any true believer know their sins are forgiven. But why does the pain remain?

The following verses fortify this thought of freedom and victory:

as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust (2 Pet 1:3-4).

Some of us have little or no problem leaving our past behind when we come to Christ. Jesus broke the snare and we simply stepped out of it, just like the bird in our verse today. Lets suppose the snare is a birdcage, and that Jesus has unlatched the door once and for all, and left it wide open. All we have to do is fly away. Do you know that many a bird wont leave their cage and many true believers wont leave their pain behind. They been incarcerated in it for so long that its become home. Albeit a prison; its a know prison.

Rejection is the reason most remain tormented and emotionally imprisoned. Theyve lost the ability to trust anyone! Not even God. If you cant trust God, faith doesnt work very well. If youre feeling imprisoned and relating to all this, let me assure you that there is a way out. Well talk more about it tomorrow
