Ephesians 1:17-18 (AMP)
17 [For I always pray to] the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, that He may grant you a spirit of wisdom and revelation [of insight into mysteries and secrets] in the [deep and intimate] knowledge of Him,
18 By having the eyes of your heart flooded with light, so that you can know and understand the hope to which He has called you, and how rich is His glorious inheritance in the saints (His set-apart ones),
Reflections:
This is but a small sampling of an awesome prayer the apostle Paul prayed for the believers in Ephesus 1:17-23. When I thought of this verse I was reminded of the contemporary worship song we sing, Open the Eyes of My Heart. I started singing it and got more blessed.
When we speak of the heart here were referring to that amazing place in our now-alive spirit. Just think, we were dead in our trespasses and sins (Eph 2:1-3), but now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ (Eph 2:13).
Our spirit now has eyes! I once was blind but now I see! We have been flooded with light so that our hearts can finally see and understand the hope to which He has called us, and how rich is His glorious inheritance in the saints (His set-apart ones).
Just imagine the spiritual potential that lies all but dormant in the Body of Christ. Oh, if we could just come together as one, without all the baggage, and seek Him for His full provision of light. We could surely turn this planet upside down for Christ
