1 Corinthians 1:2 (AMP)
2To the church (assembly) of God which is in Corinth, to those consecrated and purified and made holy in Christ Jesus, [who are] selected and called to be saints (God's people), together with all those who in any place call upon and give honor to the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, both their Lord and ours:
Reflections:
I grew up as a young person always believing that saints were those, few and far between, folks that were very holy, highly exalted and venerated above all the rest of the Christians. I was also taught, as a child, that these Saints were in such good standing with God that you could pray to them and they would convince Jesus to answer your prayers.
Well as you can see from our Bible verse today that that simply is not the case. By biblical definition, whoever calls upon the name of the Lord for salvation is automatically a saint once theyre saved.
A saint is someone who is consecrated and purified and made holy in Christ Jesus. This has not been accomplished by our own effort in doing good works, but rather by Jesus atoning death on the cross, and subsequent resurrection from the dead.
So I guess that makes me saint ron, and it makes you saint whoever you are J. Go ahead try it on for size, but when you do remember what Jesus said, he that is greatest among you, let him be the servant of all.
