Isaiah 43:18-20
New King James Version (NKJV)
18 Do not remember the former things,
Nor consider the things of old.
19 Behold, I will do a new thing,
Now it shall spring forth;
Shall you not know it?
I will even make a road in the wilderness
And rivers in the desert.
20 The beast of the field will honor Me,
The jackals and the ostriches,
Because I give waters in the wilderness
And rivers in the desert,
To give drink to My people, My chosen.
Reflections:
Oh, if only we could forget the pain of the past and move forward with our lives, but alas this seems like the impossible dream for so many of us. Its as if the devil has us walled into the former things and no matter how hard we try, the gates will just not swing open for us.
For the true child of God this is all just smoke and mirrors; lies that keep our souls in what seems to be a perpetual bondage. We thirst for the freedom that the Word of God proclaims, Who the Son sets free is free indeed, I have come that they might have life and that they might have it more abundantly.
Why cant we get there? We run to and fro frantically seeking answers from Christian counselors, and even wordly psychologists and psychiatrists alike, only to end up over-medicated to artificially ease the pain. Whats the answer???
Could the answer be in our verse today? Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old. Can it be that if we truly cease from our labor of trying to figure it all out, and purpose to surrender it all to Christ, that GOD will step in do a new thing and make us a way in the wilderness; that He will give us rivers of living waters?
If Christs is a finished work (and it is), then Satan cannot constrain it. And if Satan cannot constrain it the gates of hell will no longer be able to prevail against us!
Can it be that simple?
