9 God has no use for the prayers
of the people who wont listen to him.
Heres the same verse in the NKJV:
Proverbs 28:9 (NKJV)
9 One who turns away his ear from hearing the law,
Even his prayer is an abomination.
Reflections:
How many of us have run to God as a last resort when were in trouble, after the world has not so gently us down (which it usually does). God doesnt have a lot of use for second place. Hes a jealous God (Ex 34:14).
God wants our first fruits, not only of our increase, but of our trust, faith, obedience, praise and worship. He wants to be number one in our lives.
Once we have been given a new heart it should naturally and automatically long for holiness and the things of God. Thats what having been given a new heart is all about.
If we really dont much care what God thinks and we call ourselves a Christian, weve either severely backslidden, or we never really known Him in the first place.
Jesus yoke is easy and His burden is light. Life as a Christian usually consists of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit (Rom 14:17), with a few trials and tribulations (some serious, and some not so serious) thrown in to keep us praying (John 16:33).
If its not, perhaps its time to take our fingers out of our ears and seriously listen and ponder our spiritual state of affairs
