9 Rejoice, O young man, in your youth,
And let your heart cheer you in the days of your youth;
Walk in the ways of your heart,
And in the sight of your eyes;
But know that for all these
God will bring you into judgment.
Reflections:
King Solomon, in writing this, is presenting a double-edged sword; one edge appears as a license to sin, i.e. If it feels good, do it, while the other edge is proclaiming, but you can be sure your sin will find you out and you will be punished for it. The nature of man is inherently sinful and left unchecked will only lead to foolishness and ruin.
Young people want to experience life, and the spirit of this age is only too happy to oblige them. That spirit is clearly Satan using all the forms of media available in an attempt to steal, kill and to destroy our youth. In the past Hollywood and TV has been the biggest culprit, but the internet seems to have stormed past it with all manner of filth freely offered and displayed.
We are losing the battle for our children and if we, as true born-again believers dont offer them a powerful, godly alternative we may well lose them forever. The stats on motor vehicle deaths, teenage homicide, suicide and sexually transmitted diseases are staggering. As indestructible, cocky, intelligent and self-confident as teens see themselves, they are like sitting ducks for Satan and his demonic craft.
There is only one force on earth that can effectively swerve the young human vehicle from self-destruction and that force is found in the very person, and super-natural power, of the Holy Spirit sent from God. Young people must encounter Christ! There is no other solution! NONE!!!
The most powerful weapons we have on their behalf are faith-filled intercessory prayer, hope in Christ and giving the God-kind-of-love to them. No matter how hopeless it might seem, never stop praying. Remember, there was someone out there who didnt give up on us
