Romans 15:5-7 (AMP)

5 Now may the God Who gives the power of patient endurance (steadfastness) and Who supplies encouragement, grant you to live in such mutual harmony and such full sympathy with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, 6 That together you may [unanimously] with united hearts and one voice, praise and glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah). 7 Welcome and receive [to your hearts] one another, then, even as Christ has welcomed and received you, for the glory of God.

Reflections:

What a wonderful translation and picture this verse paints. It brings us right back to Jesus prayer to His Father in John 17:21, That they all may be one, [just] as You, Father, are in Me and I in You, that they also may be one in Us, so that the world may believe and be convinced that You have sent Me.

If this isnt how we truly feel about unity, then perhaps its time for us to reconsider and to get in sync with the Holy Spirit. Unity across denominational barriers all over the world is more than possible. All we have to do is to ignore the walls and the divisions they represent. Jesus didnt build them, men did.

How sad it is when we, through whatever circumstance, meet another Christian only to discover some foolish, petty, doctrinal impasse that comes between us. What is the true glue that should binds us together as one?

I believe that Eph 4:3-6 (along with a true salvation) outlines the basic requirements for pure unity: endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

In adding to this statement of faith we set ourselves up for division. We dont all have to agree on every biblical point (and we dont), but on these we must agree. Do you think God could build a true unity on these few verses; I do.

If you agree lets get onboard and become the spark that ignites a born-again unity-firestorm across the earth. All we have to do is to ask the Holy Spirit to help lead and guide us; after all He is the Spirit behind all unity
