31Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: 32And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.
Reflections:
The word tenderhearted is a warm word gently carrying with it a real softness and a caring. It is easily entreated, and sympathetic to someone elses needs. Who wouldnt want to be tenderhearted? We read that Jesus looked upon the multitudes and had compassion on them. Tenderheartedness mirrors the heart of God.
Unfortunately many of us have used broken mirrors in the way weve treated some people in our past. Even though we knew in our hearts that we hurt them we just continued to move on with our lives never looking back. Have we thrown these folks from our past under the bus of our own self-interests?
The problem is that these sins never go away. They gnaw at our subconscious and periodically surface to air their indelible grievance against us like a bee sting out of nowhere. The good news is that the stingers can be removed once and for all! Jesus died for our sins (even the ones of omission) to cancel their ill effects upon us (Isa 61:1-3 and Luke 4:18)!
If we desire to clean up these sins of the past, nows a good opportunity to do so. All we need do is to take a little time to sincerely repent confessing our past sins of omission in Christs name, and just watch as Jesus gently removes those stingers of our past! If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).
And now Lord, as we move forward into our tomorrows, help us to be kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven us ...
