Isaiah 45:2-3 (King James Version)
2I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight: I will break in pieces the gates of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron: 3And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and hidden riches of secret places, that thou mayest know that I, the LORD, which call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel.
Reflections:
Before now I didnt know what the treasures of darkness really meant. I had heard a preacher speak of it once, but he obviously didnt study it through. He said that it was what you learned through pain and suffering. Well, thats not what the Hebrew text reveals. Bear with here me for yet another word study:
Treasures: The Hebrew word owtsar means: a depository such as an armory, cellar, garner, store-house or treasure-house.
Darkness: The Hebrew word choshek means: misery destruction, death, ignorance, sorrow wickedness, darkness, night and obscurity.
The context of these two verses is that God is going to go before his army (the Church) to break down and set free. Break down what? The gates of hell (Matt 16:18) and all that Satan has cheated us out of through, misery, destruction, ignorance of the word of God, wickedness etc.
These hidden riches are our inheritance in Christ! The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly (John 10:10). In other words Jesus came to GET IT ALL BACK! Can you shout amen!?
