41 Then they took away the stone from the place where the dead man was lying. And Jesus lifted up His eyes and said, Father, I thank You that You have heard Me. 42 And I know that You always hear Me, but because of the people who are standing by I said this, that they may believe that You sent Me. 43 Now when He had said these things, He cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth!
Reflections:
You may be thinking, yes, but the reference to You always hear me that was between Jesus and the Father, but does God always hear us? Lets look at the following verse which is specifically addressed to believers: And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him (1 John 5:14-15).
For me this is a very profound truth. God always hears me. So often when Im praying I find myself saying, Father, I know youre listening and I know you hear every word Im praying. Just to rehearse this thought in Gods presence ushers in an incredible confidence with it.
Even when the heavens feel like theyre made of impenetrable brass, He hears us! This is why were exhorted to walk by faith and not by sight. Im sure that all the while Job was going through all he had to endure the devil was whispering, Gods not listening Job, and for a while there it appears that Job (not knowing why it was all happening to him) might have been tempted to believe the lie.
But, we beloved, we have a promise a sure confidence that if we ask anything according to His will, HE HEARS US!
We mustnt get discouraged we are getting through! we need to be patient and know that God always hears our prayer
