Matthew 3:11 (KJV)
11I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance. but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:
Reflections:
I love to watch new on-fire Christians. Theyre literally burning inside with excitement about Jesus. They just cant get enough of the Bible as they run around telling everyone about Jesus; and the results are amazing. Souls get saved wherever they go. Its because theyve got the fire!
But it seems that inevitably the fire begins to burn down. The will to provide fuel for the fire (desire and passion) begins to wane and after a while we seem to ultimately settle into that awful Christianity as usual. We lose the fire
In order to get back to where we were we have to first honestly assess ourselves to see where we honestly are. Has our fire all but gone out? Is our past zeal for Jesus now just a glowing ember? Do we find it difficult to even pray or to believe God for something -- anything? Have we sadly lost our first love?
If we find this to be true, we should just take a few moments to remember how wonderful it was when we first began. Just think of all the excitement; the fruit we once bore for Jesus.
We must determine not to settle for anything less. Take a moment and in all earnest surrender to the Holy Spirit afresh and ask Him to blow on whatever embers of the past are still left glowing.
The Holy Spirit will do the rest and youll be Gods wild-child once again
